We appreciate the business you have done with us in the past and wanted to bring you up to date on some of the things going on in our industry.
As you have probably heard, Pegasus will no longer be the DirecTV provider for our area. After a longstanding dispute with DirecTV involving several lawsuits, Pegasus has declared bankruptcy and will be out of the satellite business. There are a couple options to maintain your satellite service and I will try to spell them out for you so you can make the decision to best suit your needs.
DirecTV will still provide service in this area, and you can become a DirecTV customer. The Wichita locals are available now on DTV and by upgrading your dish and receivers you can get these channels by adding them to your current channel lineup for $3 per month. If you now have the Total Choice package with Pegasus you are paying $39.99 plus $1.75 surcharge from DirecTV and then adding the locals would bring your monthly programming to almost $45.00 per month. If you need to upgrade your system, you can expect to pay around $150 to upgrade the dish, and $99.00 per receiver to upgrade to a receiver with the appropriate software to use the new dish. This will be the only option for the customers who want the NFL Sunday Ticket sports package.
For some customers, the option of switching program providers to Dish Network may be the best option. Dish Network is DirecTV’s competitor and I like to describe them as the FORD and CHEVY of the little dish business. They both do approximately the same thing, however their programming packages are not identical.
DishNetwork is offering to NEW Dish customers FREE equipment and standard professional installation. You would pay a $49 setup fee which would be refunded to you on your first bill, making the system free to you. Dish offers 3 core packages, 60 channel for $29.99, 120 channel for $39.99 and a 180 channel package for $49.99 All of these packages DO include the Wichita channels as part of their package. No hidden surcharge or additional cost for the local channels. Dish is also offering a free DVR receiver (Digital video recorder) if you like, that will pause live TV, record up to 100 hrs of programming and comes with a remote that works thru walls so you can run the DVR receiver from another room if you have a TV hooked to that receiver say in your bedroom or office.
